What is created
BirdSaid extracts a numerical voice template from selected speech and stores it with the name chosen by the user. Each sample also has a short backing audio snippet so the user can inspect the evidence. A later speaker cluster can be compared with that customer's saved templates and returned as a suggestion or, if the user enables automatic labelling and confidence is high enough, a label.
Deliberate first enrolment
Naming a speaker in one transcript does not create a voiceprint. The first print for a person requires a separate action and confirmation that the user has the right to record that speaker and use this private voice memory. Later confirmed occurrences may add evidence to the existing profile, subject to the sample cap.
Strict limits
- one customer's templates are never matched against another customer's recordings;
- no public, shared, or cross-customer search;
- no authentication, security screening, eligibility or high-impact decisions;
- no identification of strangers, surveillance, emotion inference, or law-enforcement use;
- a default maximum of 25 remembered people and five samples for each person; and
- enrolment and matching are unavailable in locations BirdSaid specifically restricts.
Accuracy
Voice recognition is probabilistic. Noise, illness, microphones, short speech, similar voices, and model limitations can cause mistakes. BirdSaid presents lower-confidence results for review and users must not treat a label as proof of identity.
Control and deletion
The account holder can list remembered people, play each backing snippet, delete one sample, or delete the whole profile. Deleting the final sample deletes the template and its active enrolment record. Withdrawing permission should be followed by deleting the affected profile.
Location availability
Biometric rules differ by country and, in some places, state or region. BirdSaid records a user-confirmed location and applies a versioned exceptions policy. A missing or invalid location fails closed; confirmed locations are available by default unless BirdSaid has documented a specific restriction. Cloudflare's coarse request country and Stripe billing country can flag a mismatch, but neither replaces the user's declaration or decides availability. If a move or policy change restricts a confirmed location, new enrolment and matching stop immediately. Existing profiles remain available for review, account export and deletion for 30 days and are then automatically deleted. A missing or malformed policy blocks new use but does not by itself authorise deletion.
