Participant notice

Recording Notice

Effective 28 August 2026 · Pre-launch version

The user controls recording

BirdSaid accepts files manually uploaded by a user and, through its optional Chrome extension, records audio from a supported meeting tab and microphone after the user deliberately starts capture. BirdSaid does not join a meeting as a bot.

Before recording

The user must comply with the laws and meeting rules that apply to every participant. This can require advance notice, consent from all parties, a visible or audible recording indicator, or a prohibition on recording certain conversations. Meeting-platform indicators do not replace the user's legal responsibilities.

Suggested notice: “I would like to record this call and use BirdSaid to create a transcript and speaker labels. If I choose to remember a voice, BirdSaid will store a private voice template and short supporting snippet in my account. Is everyone comfortable proceeding?”

Sensitive conversations

Do not use BirdSaid for covert surveillance, emergency calls, privileged or classified material, children's conversations, workplace or professional calls, or health, employment, credit, insurance, policing or other high-impact contexts.

After recording

Users should limit access, correct speaker labels, delete unnecessary recordings and voice samples, honour participant objections and deletion requests where required, and avoid redistributing transcripts beyond the original purpose.

Extension behaviour

The extension captures only after a user gesture, shows an active state, and stops on request, tab closure, or when the capture stream ends, including navigation away. It uploads only after the user chooses Upload. The public release includes a discard-before-upload choice and clear in-extension disclosure before recording.
